Fully bound in publisher's brown cloth with blind stamping to covers, spine with gilt titling. Boards have moderate general scuffing, soiling, and rubbing wear, moderate bumping to fore corners, rubbing wear and splitting along extremities including .5in. of loss along spine tail (backing board exposed), chipping long front joint, and fraying along spine head; spine moderately cocked. Textblock edges have moderate scuffing and age-toning, mild dust-burning along head edge and light waviness along tail edge; interior has mild soiling to endpapers, faint brown liquid staining along head edge of publisher's advertisements and frontispiece, mild bending wear along tail fore corners pp.143-146, and mild foxing throughout. True first printing, with no mention of “Thousand” at top of title page. Contains all seven wood engravings, including frontispiece portrait, and four-page catalogue between yellow endpapers.
